Goodbye

It's farewell time.

I've decided to move to typepad: Please visit me there:

My life is moving in many different directions, and I wanted to begin a new blog from scratch. I'm going to leave this one up for a couple more weeks, and then take down the contents.

I hope you'll follow me over to my new site...it's gonna be great!:)

As summer ends, here is an appropriate photo...Aren't they sweet?

My poor baby broke his foot.

A week ago, Logan fell while doing a back tuck at tae kwon doe. He landed on his breaking board. We just thought it was bruised and iced it. He continued to walk and run, jump on the trampoline, ride bikes and scooters, and even went to acro. He started to complain about it again, so I took him in Friday morning just to check.
3 broken bones in his left foot! That means the rest of the summer in a cast and crutches! No acro or tae kwon doe for 8 weeks!
We go tomorrow to the orthapedic doctor for his permanent cast. Please say a prayer that can do one of those new waterproof ones...:)

Happy 32nd (to me!)

I do love my birthday. The thirties are soooooo much better than the twenties, wouldn't you agree?

Yesterday was very nice. Mike brought me my favorite organic chocolate milk and donuts for breakfast, along with some beautiful pink roses. After working for a couple of hours, Mimi and Grandpa came and babysat for the rest of the day. We went to a brief press event for the Artygators, ate at Dexters, went to the movies and saw Evening, and did some shopping. (a new Fossil purse and wallet for me)
Afterwards, we went home and the kids were waiting to give me my birthday cake. So sweet and a nice ending to a wonderful day. (note: It is extremely difficult to get all 3 children to look at the camera at the same time!:)
You may have noticed how sparse my blog entries have been. I decided yesterday I was going to start posting more regularly. Anyway, I have been extremely busy with my newest endeavor. I haven't said anything but I am embarking on a new adventure. I have acquired a licensing coach and agent and am pursuing licensing my work. It has been a huge endeavor, exciting and scary at the same time. My first stationary show will be in Atlanta in two weeks. I'll be finishing up my portfolio in the next couple of weeks, but I promise to keep you posted.
Have a great Sunday!

Ava the tomboy

Ava's favorite new thing to do is play in the yard while we are all outside by the pool. She digs with her little garden tools and waters the plants.
I love these pictures...with the little scab on her nose and her dirty face she looks like a little girl with 3 older brothers!

Etsy Update

I was doing well for a few days on my Etsy shop, but it lost momentum. So I filled up the shop this weekend with lots of new goodies, a couple of new "She" prints, 9 new mosaics, and a mixed media series. I hope everyone had a relaxing weekend!

Ava the Ballerina

I had the opportunity to get some free photos of Ava at the dance studio that I teach at. Of course we found her a little tutu to wear...Aren't these photos adorable? Being a dancer my whole life, I have a secret desire that Ava will want to dance. But we will encourage anything that she is interested in.

King of the Redtiles

Get it? Not King of the Reptiles, King of the Red-tiles. He is also sponsored by Budweiser, so he has that theme going on as well. Over 100 hours of work, and he's done! I can't tell you how happy I am to be finished. My fingers are raw...

But it was definitely a learning experience and pretty fun. He will be installed tomorrow in front of a popular restaraunt around here, and once that is done I will take more pictures of him in his element. Thursday night is publicity night, and Saturday will be another one.

Looks pretty good, if I do say so myself. :)

Happy Mothers Day

Last year I was still in that milk-drunk breastfeeding state with Ava, and now all my babes are walking and talking. Every year it gets better and better.

Sorry for my lack of posting. May has proved to be an extremely busy month. I'll be back next week with finished pictures of the gator. I hope everyone has a lovely Mother's Day, from our family to yours.

Arty-gator

This is my huge project of the moment. It is a 6 x 4 foot (roughly) alligator for a city project in the City of Sanford. Check it out.

The kiddos

Logan got his brown belt last night at tae kwon doe, and landed a very clean round-off back tuck and round-off spiderman. We are so proud of him!

Mimi and Eric brought over a vanity set for Ava, and she is loving it!

And here is Ashton, with his bedhead, and contagiously sweet smile and eyes...

Happy Earth Day

When Earth Day rolls around I try to set a new environmental goal for the year. I know they are small, and at times seem rather insiginificant when there is so much more I could do, but nevertheless, it is something. Last year we switched from regular milk to organic, and we have stuck to that fantastically. This year I am ready to start a clothesline. This weekend I laid out all my towels on my pool deck, and they were dry in less than an hour! Albeit crunchy towels are not everyone's favorite, we will get used to them. Here is a great tutorial on clothesline, and I'll post a pic when we get ours up.

Bahama Mama's

Last week at this time we were soaking up the sun at the Atlantis. My favorite parts? The food, of course, and the awesome water park on the Atlantis site. You seriously don't have to leave the Atlantis for anything. There's 100 restaurant's, a water park, casino, shopping, bars, night clubs, etc.
The second picture is original glass art from Dale Chiluly, also seen in the first picture. His glass is amazing.
Did I mention that the airline lost our luggage? And when we finally got it back everything in my suitcase was soaking wet. Oh well. Thank goodness all my friends have cute clothes!

The winner is...

This particular mosaic was featured in my first book, Wild Tiles.
The mosaic I decided to give away in my "Pay-It-Forward" contest is very similar to this one, except that the new one is long and skinny.
The winner is..... (drumroll)....
Dede, please email me your snail mail address and I will send it this week. Congrats!
This was fun... Thanks to all who played.
p.s. I picked the old-fashioned way:out of a hat!

Time to pay my luck forward!

Here is our darling doll quilt from Miss Vicki. It is precious! Have you seen her little quilt factory over there? Everything she makes is delicious.
So I will pick a name from the original post today and announce the winner tonite!
Good luck!

Bon Voyage

Today is my baby girl's 1st birthday. I can't believe how quickly this first year went. I am a little sad today because I know she is our last baby. The days of newborn-ness are over for now... But I am so happy that she is a beautiful, healthy sweetheart.I am off for a long weekend in the Bahamas with my girlfriends. See you back on Monday!

k and m

I was hoping to post pictures today of my dollquilt from Turkey Feathers, but the weather is rainy and very overcast. Alas, no decent pictures could be taken. So, here is "K" ( which I accidentally skipped) and "M". K stands for Keep the Faith, and M stands for Mommy:)

Welcome back to my Etsy shop

I am very proud to announce the re-opening of my etsy shop. I am super proud of this line of work, and while it is not mosaics, it is my second passion: mixed-media paintings. I hope you find it inspiring and soulful.
